Student Employment

The University Unions employs over 50 TCU students throughout various student staff positions. These positions include: Information Desk Assistant, Event Specialist, and Building Supervisor. These students can be seen throughout the Brown-Lupton University Union (BLUU) and King Family Commons Building (KFCB) in purple, black, or grey polos and University Unions nametags. If you need assistance at any point during your Union experience, our student staff are more than willing to help.

The University Unions staff hires students to serve as Information Desk Assistants and Event Specialists on a rolling basis.

Information Desk Assistants

Description: Information Desk Assistants are responsible for ensuring that each visitor to the University Unions has an outstanding experience during their time in the facility. Student staff will actively greet and assist individuals in the Unions, answer phone calls, deliver prompt and courteous customer service, respond to questions, and provide thorough information regarding the Union, TCU, and the Fort Worth community. Information Desk Assistants will enforce University Unions and TCU policies and will assist staff in maintaining a safe, professional, and hospitable environment for all visitors. Some evening and weekend availability is preferred.

Qualifications: Information Desk Assistants should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; general computer knowledge; the ability to interact with a diverse population; a willingness to learn; a positive attitude; and a strong work ethic. Previous customer service experience is preferred, but not required.

Event Specialist

Description: Event Specialist Staff are responsible for the setup of audio/visual equipment in the Unions facilities. Event Specialists will oversee the setup of each event’s technological requirements, greet guests before their events, assist Union guests with using in-room A/V systems, respond quickly to client issues, and help troubleshoot problems, all while continuing to grow in their knowledge of A/V and event technology. Event Specialists will enforce University Unions and TCU policies and will assist staff in maintaining a safe, professional, and hospitable environment for all visitors. Some evening and weekend availability is preferred. On the job training is provided.

Qualifications: Event Specialists should possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; general computer knowledge; the ability to interact with a diverse population; a willingness to learn’ a strong attention to detail; and a strong work ethic. Previous experience with A/V technology is preferred but not required. Students with previous music, film, and theater production are encouraged to apply.
