As a part of Vision in Action, TCU’s strategic planning process, the Brown-Lupton University Union (fondly referred to as the BLUU) was built in 2008 as the gateway to the new Campus Commons. Situated on Stadium Drive, across from Daniel Meyer Coliseum and Amon G. Carter Stadium, the University Union features breathtaking architecture and provides many new amenities for the TCU community. Brown-Lupton University Union prides itself in its history as a Union, and wants to share its Mission and Values with you.
Brown-Lupton University Union’s mission is to provide programs, services, and facilities that enhance the campus community.
The University Union is the community center for all members of the university family: students, faculty, administration, alumni and friends of TCU. As the “living room” of the university, the University Union is designed to provide a clean, comfortable and safe environment, offering services and amenities for the university’s family and friends.
The University Union is also a part of the education program on TCU’s campus. As the center of university community life, it serves as an arena for students to apply their educational experience outside the classroom, providing co-curricular activities and employment opportunities. The University Union serves as a facility for students to exercise citizenship, social responsibility and ethical leadership in a learning community.
The University Union provides a learning opportunity in which personal growth occurs. A specific learning outcome from your involvement with the Union is the understanding, appreciation, and practice of values that foster service, quality, diversity, and leadership. Reflecting on these core values is also integral to our success in being the center of TCU’s community life.
Service – Providing consistent quality customer service is the cornerstone of the University Union. Through state-of-the-art facilities and professional and accessible personnel attention, our staff embraces the opportunity to support users in the completion of their goals and initiatives.
Diversity – The University Union embraces diversity as an attribute and goal. As an attribute, diversity is an identification of ethnicity, race, gender, disability, age, religion, sexual orientation, economic status and other areas of our lives which define humanity. As a goal, diversity refers to the intentional and consistent valuing, respecting, and inclusion of all people. [adapted from the NACA diversity statement]
Leadership – As educators, the University Union staff is dedicated to providing meaningful employment opportunities that increase students’ competence and ability to become leaders in society and industry in their post-college endeavors.
